Sat Shri Akaal 🙏. This Privacy Policy explains how Sikhverse ("we", "our", "the App") — published by Karamveer Singh — collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. By installing or using Sikhverse, you agree to the practices described here.
Short version: Sikhverse is a free devotional app. We do not require sign-up. We use Google AdMob to show ads (so the app stays free), and we use minimal anonymous identifiers to remember your streak and preferences. We do not sell your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
1a. Anonymous device identifier
When you open the app, we generate a random anonymous device-id stored locally on your device. This lets us remember your daily streak, notification preferences, and reading progress without requiring you to sign up or share any personal information.
1b. Advertising data (via Google AdMob)
To keep Sikhverse free for everyone, we display advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:
- Advertising ID — a resettable identifier provided by your device for ad personalization (you can reset or opt out anytime in your device settings).
- App interaction data — basic data such as which screens you viewed, ad impressions, and ad clicks.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address (city / country level only, never precise GPS).
- Device information — model, OS version, language, network type.

1c. Crash & diagnostic logs
If the app crashes, anonymous diagnostic logs (stack trace, OS version, device model) may be sent to help us fix bugs. No personal content is included.
1d. Information we do NOT collect
- ❌ We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
- ❌ We do not collect precise GPS location.
- ❌ We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- ❌ We do not require any sign-up or login.
2. How We Use the Information
- To deliver the daily Hukamnama, Gurbani, and content you request.
- To remember your local preferences (theme, notifications, streak count).
- To show ads through Google AdMob so the app remains free.
- To detect and fix crashes and improve app performance.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse of the service.
3. Third-Party Services
Sikhverse integrates the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob — Advertising. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Google Play Services — Provides advertising ID and notifications. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- BaniDB — Authentic Gurbani & Hukamnama source from Shri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). Public API, no personal data sent. Website: https://banidb.com
- Hosting infrastructure — App backend hosted on secure cloud services. Standard server logs (IP, request timestamps) may be retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
4. Children's Privacy
Sikhverse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us information, please contact us at the email below and we will delete it promptly. Advertisements shown through AdMob follow Google's family-friendly policies but are not specifically targeted at children.
5. Your Rights & Choices
5a. Opt out of personalized ads
You can opt out of personalized ads at any time:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → toggle "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
- Reset Advertising ID: Settings → Google → Ads → "Reset advertising ID".
After opting out, you will still see ads, but they will no longer be personalized to your interests.
5b. Delete your data
Since we don't store personal accounts, you can erase all locally stored Sikhverse data simply by:
- Uninstalling the app, OR
- Going to Android Settings → Apps → Sikhverse → Storage → Clear data.
To request deletion of any server-side data linked to your anonymous device-id, email us at kvsingh2824@gmail.com and we will process the request within 30 days.
5c. Disable notifications
Turn off Sikhverse notifications at any time from the in-app Profile screen or Android Settings → Apps → Sikhverse → Notifications.
6. Data Security
All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. We do not store sensitive personal information on our servers. The anonymous device-id used for streak tracking is not linkable to any personal identity.
7. Data Retention
- Local data (streaks, preferences): kept on your device until you uninstall the app.
- Anonymous server data (streak logs tied to device-id): kept for up to 365 days, then automatically purged.
- AdMob data: governed by Google's retention policies.
- Server access logs: 30 days for security/abuse prevention.
8. International Users
Sikhverse is available worldwide. Your data may be processed in India and other countries where Google's infrastructure operates. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will notify users of any material changes via an in-app message or notification. Continued use of Sikhverse after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
